چکیده

Objective: To evaluate the prognostic performance of lactate–albumin difference (LAD), maximum lactate levels, and Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA) score taken on first day in critically ill patients with sepsis, in-hospital mortality 90-day survival.Patients Methods: Data from Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care III (MIMIC III) version 1.4 were evaluated retrospectively. The data adult sepsis diagnosed according to Third International Consensus Definitions Sepsis Septic Shock (Sepsis-3) criteria recorded. effectiveness all diagnostic modalities admission was analyzed predict survival. Results: In-hospital 20.3% among 2270 included this study. area below receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) value LAD higher than predicting (AUC, 0.691; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.663–0.718; p< 0.01, AUC, 0.675; CI, 0.646–0.703; respectively), AUC SOFA highest 0.716; 0.663–0.718). optimal cutoff 0.7. Conclusion: In addition its easy simple calculability relative SOFA, superior levels survival sepsis.

Hypothermia predicts mortality in critically ill elderly patients with sepsis

BACKGROUND Advanced age is one of the factors that increase mortality in intensive care. Sepsis and multi-organ failure are likely to further increase mortality in elderly patients. We compared the characteristics and outcomes of septic elderly patients (> 65 years) with younger patients (≤ 65 years) and identified factors during the first 24 hours of presentation that could predict mortality in...

Association between admission hypomagnesemia mortality or mortality of critically ill patients in intensive care unit

Background: Up to now there is no study evaluating correlation between serum magnesium and morbidity or mortality in patients admitted in intensive care unit. The aim of this study is to determine the prevalence of hypomagnesemia in critically ill patients and to evaluate its association with organ dysfunction, hospitalization period and mortality. Methods: We conducted a retrospective trial ...

Prognostic value of extravascular lung water in critically ill patients.

OBJECTIVE Measurement of extravascular lung water (EVLW) as a clinical tool for the assessment of pulmonary function has been found to be more appropriate than oxygenation parameters or radiographic techniques. In this study, we analyzed the prognostic value of EVLW in critically ill patients. DESIGN Retrospective analysis. SETTING Operative ICU of a university hospital. MEASUREMENTS AND ...

Predicting Mortality of Critically Ill Patients by Blood Glucose Levels

BACKGROUND The aim of this study is to observe the outcome of critically ill patients in relation to blood glucose level at admission and to determine the optimal range of blood glucose at admission predicting lower hospital mortality among critically ill patients. METHODS We conducted a retrospective cohort study of a total 1,224 subjects (males, 798; females, 426) admitted to intensive care...
